Malalamiko ya TID ‘yamfikia’ Professor Jay, Alichojibu

Image

The Ngorongoro Crater, which happens to be the main tourism offering at NCAA, is said to have formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself about three million years a

Heated debate pending as MPs deliberate budget

Image
AS Members of Parliament (MPs) start debating the 2018/19 budget proposal today, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC) Tanzania has welcomed the government’s revenue and expenditure plan, particularly on assistance to domestic manufacturers. In its Budget Bulletin released in Dar es Salaam over the weekend, PWC appreciated commendable move by the government to offer a sixmonth tax amnesty to indebted taxpayers. “Such initiatives have proved successful in many other jurisdictions in bringing recalcitrant taxpayers in from the cold – creating a win-win for the taxpayer, now able to formalise and correct past errors or omissions without cost of penalties, and for the taxman, with additional revenue and potential wider tax base in cases of previously unregistered taxpayers. So, this is certainly an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and start afresh,” the company argued. Finance and Planning Minister Dr Phillip Mpango tabled the budget last Thursday, unveiling the government plans to increase sp

He said that under the system over 800 death certificates had also been issued in all three regions of Dar es Salaam, Geita and Shinyanga since the official launch of the campaign. He said that since the establishment of the project to improve infrastructure of ICT (RCIP) funded by the World Bank the registration of birth and issuance of certificates to children under five has been successful to the largest extent. Advocate Mwale, three others lose appeal against DPP

Image
COURT of Appeal has rejected an appeal by four petitioners, challenging the Director of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) decision to drop the 40bn/- fraud and money laundering trial they were facing. Justices Mbarouk Mbarouk, Stella Mugasha and Jacobs Mwambegele ruled in favour of the DPP, upholding one ground of objection that the notice of appeal was fatally defective for failure by the four appellants, including Arusha-based Advocate Median Mwale, to state the nature of the decision against which the appeal was desired. In the appeal, the appellants who have been in remand for about six years now were opposing the DPP’s “Nolle Prosequi” certificate to discontinue their trial before the High Court in Arusha. However, referring the notice of appeal, a legal document, which initiate the appeal in criminal matters, the justices pointed out that the petition was against the nolle prosequi entered by the DPP, as respondent, which was not the case. “Various decisions of this court have spelled
