Police urged to arrest cybercrime suspects

THE Minister of Infrastructure, Communication and Transport, Dr Sira Ubwa Mamboya, yesterday drew attention of the Police to ‘tame cybercrime’ that is on the rise by people who misuse Information Communication Technology (ICT) flourishing in the Island.   Ms Mamboya pointed out that there have been emerging and increasing illegal financial deals in the area where the suspects use mobile phones to swindle their unsuspecting targets, adding that a case in study was her own scene. Urging the Police to spare no one in the illegal business, she said: “There are problems, I was a victim, we were questioned by the police but we have seen no action. THE Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries should liaise with all Simsim cultivating districts and authorities to prepare a ground for auctioning the crop in this season.   The observation was made here yesterday in the Parliament by the Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, advising that the preparations should include the stakeholders’ meeting and coming up with a system that would control the auctioning so its farmers get the best prices. He said regional and district commissioners in simsim cultivating areas should come up with various means to ensure that the auctioning is done at once. Govt gets new investor, ends Udart monopoly

THE government has commissioned another investor to bring new buses into the country to ply on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) infrastructure to complement services offered by Usafiri Dar es Salaam Rapid Transit (Udart).   This was revealed by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa in Parliament, yesterday, when responding to on the spot question posed by Maulid Mtulia (Kinondoni-CCM) on measures the government is taking to improve and easy transport woes facing Dar es Salaam residents. But, the Prime Minister was quick to warn that the government would not hesitate to scrap the contract with the current operator should it be proven beyond reasonable doubt that the company has failed to deliver to the government’s expectations. THE Deputy Minister for Land, Housing and Human Settlement Development, Ms Angelina Mabula, has cautioned workers in her ministry to desist from indulging in corruption, instead make the public become friendly to it.   Addressing the ministry workers’ council meeting here yesterday, Ms Mabula, said her staff should understand that corruption was an enemy of justice and whoever indulgence in it generally tarnishes the image of the government. She hinted that the public generally have a lot of trust in the industry and directed that every public servant should be a watchdog against any misbehaviour to guard their integrity in business. “ We will fail to administer justice if we receive bribe. TRA set for massive tax education countrywide

TANZANIA Revenue Authority (TRA) is set to introduce countrywide special education on tax services with attempts to mobilize the citizens to know their social responsibilities and pay taxes without being pushed.   Speaking here on Tuesday, TRA Commissioner General Mr Charles Kichere said apart from the ongoing education to tax payers routinely being conducted, the Authority has been prompted to come up with more ‘Specialized Clinics,’ where all questions on tax’s regulations and procedures would be explained. Region cites early pregnancies, marriages as its major setbacks

THE Kagera Regional Education Development Officer, Mr Aloys Kamamba has appealed to the area residents to devise new ways that would eliminate child marriages and high school dropouts in the region. Expounding on the magnitude of the problems, Mr Kamamba pointed out that about 229 girls dropped out of school as a result of early pregnancy between 2014 and this year. “Out of the number, 41 girls were in Primary Schools and 188 in Secondary School. People must collectively fight against outdated laws, customs and practices which contribute to keep millions of women and girls in the society to lag behind in development. “They are in the backyard and such practices impinge on their constitutionally rights, and they are further subjected to other forms of discriminations,” he further said.
