Rayon Sport in Dar for CAF tie test with Yanga
YOUNG Africans opponents, Rayon Sport are in Dar es Salaam ahead of tomorrow’s CAF Confederation Cup match at the National Stadium. Altogether the match referees from Angola are due in the country today ready for the Group D match.
Rayon who came to the city aboard Rwanda Air will train today at the national stadium, the venue of the match.
The match referee is Helder Martins De Carvalho while linesmen are Ivanildo Meirelles Do Sanche Lopes and Wilson Valdmiro Ntyamba, all Angolan nationals.
The match hosts Yanga are expected in Dar es Salaam today from Morogoro where they suffered a 1-0 loss to Mtibwa Sugar in their Premier League match at Jamhuri Stadium. The Tanzanian envoys will be looking to end the four-match winless run in both local and continental level events.
Yanga won their last game on April 7 when they defeated Ethiopia’s Wolayta Dicha 2-0 in the first playoff match of the CAF Confederation Cup. A week later they suffered a 1-0 loss to Dicha in Hawassa. But the team sailed through as 2-1 aggregate winners with Zambian coach, George Lwandamina as a caretaker.
Their opening Confederation Cup game was disastrous as the team suffered a 4-0 rout to USM Alger in Algiers. Ahead of the match, the team’s Head Coach Mwinyi Zahera said Yanga will be complete in their match against Rayon Sport.
He said he preferred to field the B side players in the league matches so as give the senior team good preparations for the CAF Confederation Cup matches. “We have already lost the league title to our traditional rivals Simba, therefore, we focus on the continental level tournament,” said the Coach.
Yanga faced a tough going in their recent matches and their loss to Mtibwa Sugar was their fourth loss in just four weeks. The 82nd minute goal netted by Hassan Dilunga was enough to beat troubled Yanga despite playing better than their Thursday 2-0 loss to Tanzania Prisons at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya.
However, Yanga continue to cling at the third position with 48 points while Azam who defeated Majimaji 2-0 on Saturday intensified their second position with 52 points after playing 28 matches. Fourth on the log are Tanzania Prisons who have carved 42 points following their barren draw with Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium on Saturday.
Parading 41 points garnered from 28 games are Singida United who seal the top five teams in the run for the Premier League diadem. Yanga who played an improved football looked changed especially in the midfield where Thabani Kamusoko marshalled well.
Still Yanga under Congolese coach Mwinyi Zahera are yet to find perfect hit team upfront as the newly introduced strikers such as Maka Edward and Yusuf Mhilu need time to adjust to the big matches.
It was the fourth league loss to Yanga. They first bowed 2-0 to Mbao FC in Mwanza in the first round, later lost 1-0 to Simba, going down again to Tanzania Prisons and Mtibwa Sugar.
